1-Cuando empezaste a pintar?
Hice mi primer graffiti con pintura en Spray en 1998, pero al principio no era un pintor muy activo, así que diría que realmente comencé a principios de los años 2000.
1-When did you start painting?
I did my first graffiti with spray paint in 1998, but I wasn’t a very active painter in the beginning, so I’d say I truly started in the early 2000s.

En un almacén abandonado. Esa misma noche, la policía pilló a mi amigo y a mí haciendo Bombing y le confiscó la cámara. Tras el arresto, la investigación y el servicio comunitario, la policía devolvió la cámara con el rollo revelado. 2-Where did you make your first pieces?
In an abandoned warehouse. That same evening, my friend and I got caught bombing by the police, who confiscated my friend’s camera. After the arrest, investigation, and community service, the police returned the camera with the film developed. Because of that, I could say I got a small «payment» for the community service — the film was developed for free, and it contained the pictures of my first graffiti piece.
3-Cómo fue la primera experiencia con un spray?
Los primeros aerosoles que probé eran pinturas para autos translúcidas y chorreantes. Así que no puedo decir que la experiencia fuera especialmente positiva. Después de los 2000, probé MTN Hardcore por primera vez y recuerdo que me impresionó lo opaca y consistente que era la pintura.
3-How was the first experience with a spray?
The first sprays I tried were translucent and drippy car paints. So I can’t say the experience was especially positive. After the 2000s, I got to try MTN Hardcore for the first time, and I remember being impressed by how opaque and consistent the paint was.
4-De dónde salió el nombre de Pallollap?
Cuando empecé a pintar grafitis, también tuve que elegir un nombre para mi Tag. Lo más difícil fue encontrar algo que no estuviera ya cogido. Así que elegí una palabra finlandesa con dos letras idénticas seguidas. Pensé que el nombre era tan absurdo y difícil de estilizar en grafitis que nadie más lo usaría.
4-Where did the name of Pallollap come from?
When I started painting graffiti, I also had to choose a tag name. The hardest part was coming up with something that wasn’t already taken. So I picked a Finnish word with two identical letters in a row. I figured the name was so silly and difficult to stylize into graffiti that no one else would be using it.
5-Que pintura sueles usar cuando pintas?

5-What paint do you usually use when you paint?
I use whatever paint is available and enjoy trying out new products. That said, I’ve probably made the majority of my work using MTN94.

6-When you started with the drawing and the illustration?
I’d say I’ve always drawn. As a kid, I drew the same kinds of characters I now use in my paintings.

A veces tengo largos descansos en los que no dibujo nada. Pero cuando me emociono y vuelvo a abrir mi cuaderno, puedo dibujar varios bocetos a la vez.
7-In a day how much you think of new ideas for a wall, canvas..
Sometimes there are long breaks when I don’t draw anything. But once I get excited and open my sketchbook again, I might draw several sketches at once.
8-Que es lo que más te gusta del Graffiti?
Nunca he sentido que el grafiti tradicional fuera lo mío, y la cultura parece tener muchas reglas para algo que se supone que es libre y rompedor. Por eso siempre he visto la cultura del grafiti desde fuera y he hecho las cosas a mi manera.
8-What do I like most about Graffiti?
I’ve never really felt like traditional graffiti was fully my thing, and the culture seems to include a lot of rules for something that’s supposed to be free and boundary-breaking. That’s why I’ve always looked at graffiti culture a bit from the outside and done things my own way.
9-Sensaciones al empezar y terminar un muro?
Mis amigos y yo tenemos un dicho: incluso un mal cuadro es un buen cuadro, porque se hizo.
9-Sensations when starting and finishing a piece?
My friends and I have a saying: even a bad painting is a good painting — because it got done.
10-De los trabajos realizados , cual es tu preferido?
No sé si puedo decirlo. Probablemente alguna pintura relacionada con una experiencia memorable. Para mí, pintar siempre está estrechamente relacionado con el proceso y los recuerdos que de él se desprenden, ya sean buenos o malos. A veces, incluso una pieza cutre puede ser un buen recuerdo porque ocurrió algo inolvidable mientras la pintaba.
10-Of the works carried out, which is your favorite?
I’m not sure I can say. Probably some painting that’s tied to a memorable experience. For me, painting is always closely connected to how the process went and the memories from it — whether good or bad. Sometimes even a crappy piece can be a good memory because something unforgettable happened while painting it.

Clean and self-discovered surfaces are always fun to paint.
12-Cómo definirías tu estilo?
Objetos y pequeños tipos en fila formando las letras de mi Tag.

Objects and little dudes in a row forming the letters of my tag name 🙂
